Participation Requirements
LEAGUE POLICY
Global Elite Basketball is committed to providing a safe, competitive, and respectful environment for every participant. All players must sign the GEB Liability Waiver AND agree to this policy before taking the court. Failure to comply with any section of this policy may result in immediate removal from the league.
Required to Participate
Code of Conduct & Sportsmanship
All players are expected to compete with integrity, respect, and sportsmanship at all times — on the court, in the facility, in locker rooms, in parking areas, and in all communications related to the league.
Respect all players, referees, GEB staff, facility personnel, and spectators regardless of the game situation or outcome.
Trash talk, taunting, and excessive celebration directed at opponents are prohibited and subject to technical fouls and ejection.
Profanity directed at another person — player, referee, or staff — will result in an immediate technical foul. Repeated profanity will result in ejection.
Arguing with referee decisions is prohibited. Captains may calmly request a rule clarification; continued arguing will result in a technical foul.
Players are responsible for the conduct of their guests and spectators. Misconduct by a player's guests may result in disciplinary action against the player.
GEB reserves the sole and absolute right to determine what constitutes a violation of this code of conduct. All GEB decisions are final.
Fighting, Violence & Zero-Tolerance Policy
ZERO TOLERANCE: Any player who engages in fighting, physical assault, or any act of violence against another player, referee, GEB staff member, or spectator will be IMMEDIATELY AND PERMANENTLY BANNED from all GEB leagues, events, and activities.
A permanent ban is non-negotiable and non-appealable. No exceptions will be made regardless of circumstances, provocation, or prior standing in the league.
Any player who is permanently banned for fighting or assault FORFEITS their registration fee in full. No refund will be issued under any circumstances.
Throwing a punch, initiating physical contact in an aggressive manner, or escalating a verbal dispute into a physical confrontation constitutes fighting under this policy — regardless of whether contact is made.
Players who leave the bench area to participate in or escalate an on-court altercation will be subject to immediate suspension or permanent ban at GEB's discretion.
Threatening language — verbal or written — directed at any player, referee, or GEB staff member will be treated as a precursor to violence and may result in immediate suspension or permanent ban.
GEB reserves the right to contact law enforcement and pursue legal action in the event of assault or criminal conduct on or about any GEB facility.
Player Eligibility & Registration
All players must be at least 18 years of age to participate in GEB leagues. Players under 18 may participate only with a parent or legal guardian's signed waiver.
Each player must be individually registered and have a signed liability waiver on file before their first game. No exceptions.
Players may only compete in the division in which they are registered. Playing in an unregistered division will result in a game forfeit and potential suspension.
Registration fees are non-refundable once the season begins, except in cases of season cancellation by GEB.
GEB reserves the right to verify player eligibility at any time. Players found to be ineligible will be removed from the roster without refund.
Team rosters must be finalized before the season begins. Roster additions after the deadline require GEB approval and payment of the applicable registration fee.
Players may not compete under a false name or on behalf of another registered player. Doing so will result in immediate removal and forfeiture of registration fees.
Substance & Alcohol Policy
The use, possession, or distribution of illegal substances on or about any GEB facility or event is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate permanent ban and potential referral to law enforcement.
Players may not participate in any GEB activity while visibly under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited inside all GEB facilities unless explicitly permitted by the facility and GEB administration for a specific event.
Any player found to be under the influence during a game will be removed from the facility immediately. The player's team will not be penalized for the removal, but the player will face suspension or permanent ban at GEB's discretion.
GEB staff and referees have the authority to remove any player they reasonably believe to be impaired, and their determination is final.
Equipment, Uniforms & Facility Rules
All players must wear the GEB-issued uniform during league games. Alterations to the uniform that obscure the player's number are not permitted.
Proper athletic footwear is required at all times on the court. Street shoes, sandals, or bare feet are not permitted.
Jewelry, including rings, necklaces, earrings, and hard bracelets, must be removed or fully taped before taking the court. GEB is not responsible for injuries caused by jewelry.
Knee braces with exposed metal or hard plastic must be covered with a sleeve or padding. Hard casts are not permitted without a physician's written clearance.
Players are responsible for their own equipment. GEB is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
All facility rules — including rules regarding locker rooms, parking, and common areas — must be followed at all times. Violations may result in suspension or removal from the facility.
Players must vacate the facility promptly after their game. Lingering in the facility after your scheduled game time may result in loss of court access.
Social Media & Public Conduct
Players are prohibited from posting content on social media or any public platform that disparages GEB, its staff, referees, other players, or facilities in a defamatory or harassing manner.
Video or audio recordings of altercations, disputes, or incidents involving other players may not be posted publicly without the consent of all parties depicted.
GEB reserves the right to take disciplinary action — including suspension or permanent ban — against any player whose public conduct, online or offline, is deemed harmful to the reputation or safety of the league.
Players who publicly incite conflict, recruit others to harass GEB staff or players, or organize boycotts based on false claims may be permanently banned.
GEB's media and image rights policy (detailed in the Liability Waiver) applies to all content captured at GEB events.
Disciplinary Process & Appeals
GEB administration has sole and absolute authority over all disciplinary decisions. Referees have authority to issue technical fouls and ejections during games.
Disciplinary actions include, in order of severity: verbal warning, technical foul, ejection from a game, one-game suspension, multi-game suspension, and permanent ban.
Ejection from a game results in an automatic one-game suspension for the following scheduled game. The ejected player must leave the facility immediately.
Players who refuse to leave the facility after ejection will be subject to an extended suspension and potential permanent ban. Law enforcement may be contacted.
Suspensions are served consecutively and may not be deferred to a future season.
A player who receives three ejections in a single season will be permanently banned from GEB for the remainder of that season and the following season.
Disciplinary decisions may be appealed in writing to GEB administration within 48 hours of the incident. Appeals are reviewed at GEB's sole discretion and the decision is final. Filing an appeal does not stay a suspension.
Forfeiture of registration fees applies in all cases of permanent ban resulting from fighting, assault, or criminal conduct. No refunds will be issued.
Liability Waiver Requirement
EVERY player must sign the GEB Participant Liability Waiver & Release before participating in any GEB game, practice, scrimmage, or event. No exceptions.
The waiver must be signed individually by each player. Team captains may not sign on behalf of teammates.
Players who have not signed the waiver will not be permitted to take the court. Their team will not receive a forfeit win as a result of an unsigned player's absence.
The waiver covers all GEB activities for the duration of the current season and all future seasons until the player formally revokes it in writing.
Players under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on their behalf. The parent or guardian assumes all obligations under the waiver.
By signing the waiver and participating in GEB activities, each player confirms they have also read and agree to this League Policy in its entirety.
The waiver and this policy together constitute the full agreement between each player and Global Elite Basketball LLC regarding participation.
